What are we learning?General Music:
4K-2nd : We are focusing on tuneful singing, beatful playing, and artful expression.
3rd-5th: Students have been focusing on decoding rhythm patterns as well as singing tunefully together. Third grade has also been learning about Baroque era and Pachelbel’s Canon. Fourth grade has been learning about the Romantic era and Frederic Chopin. Fifth grade has been learning about Modern Music and have been researching contemporary composers that are living and working today.
Middle School: African Music and Culture. This year for Middle School Music we will be focused on studying world music. We’ve traveled from Scandinavia, to South America, to Africa!
Band: Bulldog Band: The Bulldog Band had it’s first performance at WASBF and enjoyed it greatly! The students are not working on building skills and repertoire for their spring concert.Vikings Band: The Middle School Vikings Band is deep into preparation for Solo and Ensemble (March 2nd). At the conclusion of the competition, we will be spending some time composing before starting spring concert repertoire. The 5th grade Vikings Band had a blast at their second performance, WASBF! They are now working on skills and techniques to be prepared for their spring concert.
