Music for Baby and Me

This one’s for all the little nuggets

SUMMER CLASSES AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST

This class is for parents and their children from ages 0-36 months, looking to bond deeply through sharing musical moments and experiences. This is for parents that want to give their child a foundation to grow into the most whole person they can be.
Participants receive either virtual or in-person weekly instruction, take-home lesson plans and guides, and full access to necessary educational materials!

What to Expect

  • What is the first thing that grandparents and great-grandparents do when they hold an infant or toddler? Bounce them on their knee! You will learn melodies that encourage your child to develop a sense of beat with bounces, inspire wonder with wiggles, and to learn expressive touch with tickles.

  • Tapping a beat along with a tune or rhyme for your child helps them internalize the natural flow of language and verbal communication.
    Future storytelling skills anyone???
Clapping games are a time-honored tradition around the world and a perfect way to teach your child to connect and play with others.

  • Though your child may not yet have a singing voice, singing to your child simple melodies will create a warehouse in their memories that will help them to discover their own singing voices.

  • When we read, we look for quality in the content and how the content is being delivered. We want the same for our music! A good children’s book is interesting to both adults and children and is still appealing after reading it 100 times. The music chosen for Music for Baby and Me follows these same principles in all aspects. The literature chosen, from folk songs to classical dance selections, is literature that is thoughtful and appropriate for little ones.

  • Do I even need to talk about the importance of lullabies?

Quality lullabies promote melodic perception, a sense of beat, expressiveness, and, most importantly, are a major source of bonding with your child.

Importance of Music in Early Childhood

It is a reasonable expectation that you want your child to be able to clap their hands on beat at a sporting event, dance in time at their wedding, be able to sing “Happy Birthday” to their own children, right?
Yet, many adults do not feel comfortable doing these things!
Providing your child with an environment to develop these basic musical behaviors is paramount to their development as a “whole person”; meaning their development in every aspect of being a creative human.
